I can think of no better way to celebrate Mother's Day than sharing the newest addition to the Koegel family with you all!

Rebecca is an absolutely amazing new born photographer, so when she contacted me for photos of her very own newborn, Arden, I was so, so honored (and completely nervous!). Rebecca's hope was to capture her family being her family. The little moments. The connections. The love and excitement of welcoming Arden to the family.

That afternoon, Rebecca and Brady allowed me and my camera into their home to capture all of those real and beautiful moments. Rebecca held Arden so gently, sharing glances with Brady just marveling at how perfect their little girl is. Coen jumped up on the bed claiming his big brother status with gusto. And little Arden slept on as if she had been part of her new family forever. It was a completely wonderful afternoon.

Did I say my seniors are talented, or what! Meet Ally. Singer, musician, writer, and so, so amazing at all of these!

As Ally sat on the street curb strumming away at her guitar, you could feel the passion and the honesty in every note. I was blown away. Blown away. This girl has the heart of a poet, and I am so humbled for the chance to capture it with my camera.

milan :: talent headshot photo shoot in melbourne, fl

I mean, wow. The talent of the teens that I get to work with just blows my mind. I have been lucky enough to work with students who are musicians, writers, athletes and who are working to make the world a better place. And Milan, pursuing her singing and acting dreams, is definitely at the top of that list!

Milan's photo shoot was a gift from her parents for her 16th birthday. But not just an ordinary photo shoot gift. It was clear that this gift was the beginning of some big dreams for Milan. This gift was Milan's parents saying that they believe in her and support her. It just does not get better than seeing a family with so much love and support for each other.

And I cannot wait to see how Milan's career takes off! I will definitely be showing these photos off again when Milan is singing at the Grammys one day. One day in the not-so-distant future, I'm guessing. :)

Anna led the way. She twirled and danced up the pier with her little sister, Avery, not far behind. I sat and watched the joy, trying to remember what it was like to be that carefree. As I heard mom and dad laughing, I snapped back to reality and clicked that shutter as fast as I could. That joy needed to be remembered.

Meet the Colletto family! Kim, another wonderful photographer in the area, contacted me for a very special portrait session to celebrate her 40th birthday. Kim radiates with such genuine kindness that just spreads to everyone around her. Saying that Kim and her family were a joy to photograph is just a complete understatement. I just adore them all and love the warmth and happiness they have as a family!

eeeeek! 30 days of film winner!

Refresh. Refresh. Refresh. I clicked refresh on Hailey Bartholomew's blog again. An embarassing amount really. Waiting to see the results of her and Sue Bryce's 30 Days of Film contest. Then I clicked again, and I couldn't even form words. My video was at the top of the page.

To say I'm humbled does not even begin to describe it. I am completely stunned and grateful that Hailey and Sue saw something in my little video. Who says you need kids to have a cute family video!?! :)

Sue and Hailey, I cannot thank you enough for this amazing opportunity! Thank you for being so willing to share what you know of creativeLIVE and your generous hearts. I will always remember this project and this experience as such a turning point in my business!

holy trinity's the movement :: behind the scenes video

Sometimes working with this camera leads to some pretty amazing opportunities. For the second year in a row, I have been able to work with the students in The Movement at Holy Trinity High School.

So what is this movement all about? They are a group of teens spreading a message of love and hope by taking part in The Storytellers High School Campaign for To Write Love On Her Arms. (Click on the links to read all about the nonprofit and its vision.)

There is nothing more awesome than changing high school hallway talk from bullying and hate to a conversation of love and acceptance. And these kids are leading the way! So incredibly proud of them and even more inspired by them.

I just love working with high school seniors and hearing all about their life passions, college plans, and their dreams for the future. It is such an amazing thing to capture in images.

When I met up with Vashti for her photo shoot, she was right in the middle of all kinds of college visits. We talked about Texas, the Carolinas, Florida, and any place that might be lucky enough to have this girl next year. Wherever she ends up, I just know that Vashti is going to take the place by storm. She carries herself with such a mix of intelligence, fun, and energy. She is going places!

home is with you :: 30 days of film project

Honesty time... I am a little nervous and so, so excited to show this to you! I spent the month of February working on a personal film project. The challenge came from Hailey Bartholomew's and Sue Bryce's creativeLIVE. Bring your camera everywhere for 30 days. Film your life. Find the beauty, and capture what makes you happy.

So that's what I did. And this film is for my Ronald. My home will forever and always be with him :)
